Romantic, quaint Catalina Island is only a
short ferry ride off the coast of southern California
but a world away from our daily routines. Golf carts and
bicycles are the main modes of transportation in the
main town of Avalon, adding to the laid-back but
far-from-sleepy atmosphere. The kelp-forested coves and
islets surrounding Catalina are havens for marine life
including bright orange garibaldi, bat rays, lobsters
and eels, among others.
